Saudi industry minister concludes official visit to Japan

TOKYO — Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Al Khorayef concluded his official visit to Japan that aimed at developing the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

The official visit also aimed to discuss the implementation of the Saudi-Japanese Vision 2030’s projects, attract qualitative investments and partnerships in mining and industrial sectors.

It also sought to enhance cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Japan in accordance with the objectives of the National Strategy for Industry, and the Comprehensive Strategy for Mining and Metallurgical Industries.

At the beginning of his visit to Japan, the Saudi minister met with Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Ken Saito, and discussed with him strengthening cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Japan.

They also discussed the promising opportunities that the Kingdom enjoys to build an effective partnership with Japan in the industrial and mining sectors.

During the meeting with officials at the Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC), the minister discussed the strategic cooperation with the organization to supply mineral resources to Japanese manufacturers.

This was largely due to the fact that Saudi Arabia owns huge mineral wealth, which includes dozens of important minerals used in advanced industries, in addition to competitive advantages of becoming a hub for metal production.

Furthermore, the minister participated in the roundtable meeting for industry and mining, which was held in Tokyo with the participation of the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, 19 Japanese companies from the public and private sectors.

In addition the roundtable meeting was attended by a number of officials from the industry and mineral resources system.

Al Khorayef also paid a visit to a number of factories, and held several meetings, and bilateral meetings with officials from various Japanese companies and institutions operating in the industry, mining, finance, and insurance sectors.

The meetings reviewed the various opportunities available for cooperation and investment in Saudi Arabia in the industrial and mining sectors, and other promising sectors,

Al Khorayef also met in Tokyo with a number of Saudi male and female students on scholarship in Japan in the presence of the Saudi Charge d’Affaires in Japan Anas Al-Nuwaisir.
